1. Information We Collect
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and profile photo (if provided via Google Sign-In). We do not collect any data while you use the app in guest mode.
2. Location Data
Location access is used solely to display your position on the map, calculate routes, and navigate. Location data is processed on-device and is never transmitted to our servers.
3. Offline Maps & Downloads
Downloaded map packs are stored locally on your device. We do not track which regions you download or how frequently you use them.
4. Usage Analytics
If you opt in via the “Usage Analytics” toggle in Profile, anonymised usage events (e.g. offline searches, route calculations) are stored in your account on Firebase Firestore. This toggle is off by default. You can clear this data at any time from Profile → Clear Local Data.
5. Account Data & Firebase
Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication (Google LLC). Your account data — name, email, and analytics events — are stored in Firebase services governed by Google's privacy policy. We do not sell or share your data with third parties.
6. Third-Party Services
Map data is provided by OpenStreetMap contributors under the Open Database Licence (ODbL). Routing is powered by Valhalla. Place search is powered by Photon. Tile rendering uses MapLibre GL and PMTiles. These services operate under their respective licences and privacy policies.
7. Data Retention
You may delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting support. Analytics data is removed immediately when you disable the analytics toggle or clear local data.
8. Children's Privacy
This app is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
